ily2, new single from me and Hand Habits is out now
It is with the utmost excitement that I write to you in the form of this Substack newsletter. This time informing you that while, yes, I did just release a new song titled head a couple of weeks ago (if you missed that, it is a great 1/2 rock 1/2 ambient tune about oral sex) I am releasing another song today titled ily2 featuring my friend Meg Duffy aka Hand Habits on guitar. This new song is the final track of 10 on my upcoming album sentiment. It is available to stream on Spotify now and will be on Bandcamp early in the morning of the 21st.
In the spirit of transparency, this release is meant to be more of a casual stumbling out into the world rather than a Glorious Unveiling to The World - the latter which artists tend to prefer when releasing new music. The reason for this approach is partially my own clumsy timing and inefficient communication skills but also because the whole Spectacle of releasing single after single from an upcoming album can turn from exciting to exhausting very quickly. Plus, the song was already premiered, discussed on-air and archived on the NPR website as part of their All Songs Considered show a few weeks ago. No mystery remains!
I want to thank Meg and Thrill Jockey for helping me get this one out there. I also want to thank NPR for being the first to publicly sing praises for this tune. Hopefully more praise will come my way but if not, that is also okay. There are a lot of other praise-worthy things in the world right now too.
On Bandcamp you can find about 20 copies of the album in yellow vinyl and about 50 in classic black. The LPs are moving fast so grab one if ya want.
